Sacramento Food Bank

In 2022, Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services (SFBFS) and their partner agencies distributed 34.3 million pounds of food, 11.7 million pounds of which was produce. With over 300,000 people in Sacramento county facing food insecurity,-- the inability to access affordable, nutritious food—we are honored to partner with the SFBFS and our members to donate fresh organic fruit and vegetables to those in need.

Lion’s mane mushrooms are native to North America, Europe, and Asia and there are several species of edible Hericium that grow in the wild or under cultivation. They have several common names that come from their shaggy appearance which can range from dangling icicles to hedgehog spikes to a lion’s mane.

As the truck and trailer came to a skidding stop on the gravel road, I jumped out of the truck, then remembered to turn off the diesel engine in the hope of getting some good audio of the hissing. That glimmer on the end of the serpent was what I suspected, a rattle,-- each nub the result of one skin shed. It was a beautiful and huge rattlesnake, the back half still in the gravel road, the front starting to make its way up a bank on the side of the road.
