Wild River Fruit has been a farm partner of ours for over 25 years and has grown fruit outside Marysville, CA on land bordering the Yuba River for nearly 60 years. From the early days of farming canning peaches to transitioning acreage to kiwi fruit and then becoming certified organic and adding pluots, persimmons and mandarins, the farm has grown and diversified to now raise more than 30 unique fruit varieties.
On a mission provide the most nutritious and delicious fruit possible, Wild River makes an effort to go above and beyond organic certification requirements such as composting and physical methods of weed management to actively foster biodiversity and continuously improve their stewardship of the land.

The Noland family is proud to continue the farming legacy of Gordon Noland, with son Mike Noland having assumed ownership of the business and grandson Travis bringing in new innovative ideas and fruit varieties to the operation. Back in the mid-1990s, the family worked directly with Farm Fresh To You founder, Kathleen Barsotti, loading up 20 boxes of fruit in their car and delivering them to the little cold storage unit Kathy had set up at Capay Organic. Kathy’s devotion to providing consumers with food grown without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers was an inspiration to the team at Wild River who were also learning to grow fruit organically.
Practicing sustainable agriculture at Wild River Farms also means working with nature while protecting the trees. Pest management is always a challenge and they use a variety of natural methods such as pheromones, beneficial insects and owl boxes. With over 20 nesting boxes throughout the farm, owls play a critical role managing the rodent populations that wreak havoc on the root systems of the trees and vines. Studies conducted in the region indicate that the average family of barn owls consumes 2,000-3,000 rodents each year and often lives in their chosen boxes for long periods.
Over the years, Wild River has planted more green kiwi as well as gold kiwi, Satsuma and Murcott Mandarins and over 15 varieties of pluots! Early Dapple pluots are harvested in mid-June through mid-September and other summer varieties include Emerald Blush, Ebony Rose and Honey Punch. In the fall, they harvest Flavor Rich and Black Kat, a dramatic pluot with dark skin and a pearly white inside.
