Kiwi berries

Kiwiberries Only available for a short window in the fall, we are excited to tell you about the kiwi berry,-- a miniature cousin to a kiwi that you can eat whole!

At first glance, kiwi berries look like a grape, but if you slice one open, the appearance is just like a full-size kiwi. Instead of a fuzzy skin, kiwi berries have smooth green, brown or purple skin that doesn’t require peeling; the inside has a bright green color and smells wonderfully sweet and fragrant.

Kiwiberries

Native to northern regions of Asia, such as central China, Korea, and Japan, kiwi berries have been eaten for centuries. They have been grown in the United States for over 150 years. Kiwi berry plants grow as vines up trellises, arbors or fences and prefer cooler temperatures with plenty of sunshine.

Their flavor is very similar to a full size kiwi, but can be more tart when firm,-- if you like your fruit sweeter, let them ripen at room temperature until soft. When it comes to using kiwi berries in recipes, they substitute nicely for kiwi, and are great in salads, fruit pizza or salsa, drinks, popsicles and so much more! Considered to be a super fruit, kiwi berries contain about 20 nutrients, and are rich in antioxidants, vitamins C and E, fiber, magnesium and potassium.
