In the early days of the organic movement, Dale Coke set out to prove that farming without chemicals wasn't just an idealistic dream but a practical reality. It was 1980 when Dale, with deep California farming roots stretching back five generations, planted a quarter-acre of strawberries in Watsonville. This small beginning would grow into something much more significant.
Unlike many conventional farms of that era, Dale was driven by a vision that considered both environmental impact and social responsibility. By 1981, Coke Farm became one of the first farms to earn an organic certification in California.
Over the years, this commitment to organic principles has evolved from an experimental approach to a proven model, earning the farm recognition including the Eco-Farm Sustie Award for their pioneering role in organic agriculture.
